LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team is set to begin a four-game stretch of home games this week starting with a midweek game against former conference rival, Delta State, on Tuesday afternoon.

The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. from Baswell Field.
Â
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Statesmen have met 70 times before their clash this weekend. Delta State currently leads the series 55-15.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the game 15-12 overall and are coming off a series loss on the road at Southeastern Oklahoma. In that series, Tech dropped the first game, 5-1, won the middle game 4-1 and lost the rubber match, 3-2.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .265 as a team (226-for-854) with 160 runs scored, 38 doubles, six triples and 17 home runs.
Derek Rockett currently leads the team in batting average at .350 (28-for-80).
Kirby Jenkins has been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .708 slugging percentage thanks to eight doubles, three triples and seven home runs.
Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 34 and runs scored with 24.

On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.55 and have struck out 163 batters in 220.2 innings of work.

Cole Dickson,
Creighton Jacobitz and
Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Southeastern Oklahoma and likely will not see action against Delta State in the midweek game.

Derek Rockett has started the last two midweek games and went 5.0 innings in both games. He is currently 2-1 with a 4.70 ERA and has 13 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.
Zach Moss and
Vaughn O'Leary have also started midweek game this season.

Leading the Wonder Boys once more is
Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history,
Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons,
Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.

Overall,
Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 615-437.

SCOUTING DELTA STATE
Delta State enters the game against Tech at 13-10. They have lost five-straight games and are most-recently coming off being swept on the road at Valdosta State this past weekend. Each of the first two games were 2-1 losses while the finale was an 11-4 defeat.

Offensively, the Statesmen are hitting .269 as a team (211-for-785) with 162 runs scored, 33 doubles, three triples and 13 home runs. They are led in hitting by
Austin Estes at .342 (25-for-73).
Tucker Jones has been the biggest power threat for the Statesmen as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .456 thanks to three doubles and three home runs.
Jones also leads the team in RBIs with 24 while
Estes leads the team in runs scored with 24.

On the mound, the Statesmen have a 6.24 team ERA and have struck out 180 batters in 196.0 innings of work.

The Statesmen used a weekend rotation of
Adrian Byrd,
Aidan McCrady and
Blake King in their weekend series against Valdosta State. Those three figure to not see action against Tech on Tuesday.

Mason Shropshire made the most-recent midweek start for the Statemen in their game last week at Arkansas-Monticello. He would pitch 2.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits with one strikeout.

The Statesmen are led by
Rodney Batts, who is in his seventh season as head coach at his alma mater, Delta State. In his time at DSU,
Batts is 179-127.
