DURANT, Okla. – All six combined runs scored on Friday afternoon between Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma came via the home run. Unfortunately, Southeastern had more long balls than Tech as they beat the Wonder Boys, 5-1.
The series opener was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Savage Storm got on the board with a two-run shot. In each of the next two frames, Southeastern tacked on single runs with solo homers, going up 4-0 in the process.
The Wonder Boys got their lone run of the game in the top of the seventh on a leadoff home run from
Kirby Jenkins. After the next two batters made outs, the Wonder Boys got consecutive singles from
Brendyn Bard and
Drew Vega to extend the inning, but the Savage Storm were able to strand both.
Southeastern connected for their fourth homer of the game to lead off their half of the seventh, bringing the score to its eventual final of 5-1.
The Wonder Boys will look to bounce back on Saturday as the series will conclude with a doubleheader starting at noon.
