LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team is the road this weekend and will play a three-game series at Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
The series is scheduled to be played over the course two days with a single game on Friday afternoon starting at 2 p.m. and then a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Savage Storm have met 55 times before their clash this weekend. Tech currently leads the series 30-25.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the series 14-10 overall and are 9-3 in the GAC. They have won two-straight games and are coming off a series win at home against Arkansas-Monticello last weekend. The Wonder Boys won the first game 12-11 in 10 innings, lost the second game 18-6 and then claimed the rubber match, 8-2. Most-recently, the Wonder Boys won midweek game against Henderson State, 16-2 in seven innings this past Tuesday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .274 as a team (210-for-767) with 153 runs scored, 35 doubles, six triples and 15 home runs. Derek Rockett currently leads the team in batting average at .377 (26-for-69). Kirby Jenkins has been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .667 slugging percentage thanks to seven doubles, three triples and five home runs. Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 31 and is tied with Cole Dawson in runs scored with 21.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.78 and have struck out 152 batters in 197.2 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Arkansas-Monticello and figure to be among the rotation this weekend against Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
Jacobitz is 3-3 with a 4.45 ERA and has 27 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. Hutchison is 3-3 with a 6.48 ERA and has 16 strikeouts in 25.0 innings. Dickson is 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA and has 20 strikeouts in 22.0 innings.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 614-435.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
Southeastern Oklahoma enters the series against Tech at 13-8 overall and 8-4 in the GAC. They are coming off a series loss on the road at Northwestern Oklahoma this past weekend as they lost the first two games of the series before winning the finale. Most-recently, the Savage Storm are coming off a 16-6 loss in their midweek game on the road at Northeastern State this past Tuesday.
 
Offensively, the Savage Storm are hitting .317 as a team (225-for-710) with 185 runs scored, 39 doubles, two triples and 41 home runs. They are led in hitting by Carter Olson at .373 (28-for-75). Olson has also been the biggest power threat for the Savage Storm as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .827 thanks to four doubles and 10 home runs. Olson also leads the team in RBIs with 32 while Isaac Villa leads the team in runs scored with 28.
 
On the mound, the Savage Storm have an 8.00 team ERA and have struck out 150 batters in 171.0 innings of work.
 
The Savage Storm used a weekend rotation of Dylan Hill, Estevan Fonseca and Jacob Fuller in their weekend series against Northwestern Oklahoma. Those three figure to be a part of the weekend rotation against Tech.
 
Hill is 1-1 with an 8.66 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. Fonseca is 3-1 with a 6.38 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 24.0 innings. Fuller is 0-2 with an 8.71 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.
 
The Savage Storm are led by Alan Trayler, who is in his second season as head coach at Southeastern Oklahoma. In his time at Southeastern, Trayler is 35-38.
