RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Fresh off their eighth qualifying trip to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament since 2014, the Arkansas Tech women's golf team is set to begin their 2025-26 season with the Central Region Fall Preview, hosted by Southern Nazarene University at the Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri.
The 2025-26 Golden Suns golf team was recently picked to finish third at the future 2026 Great American Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament according to the league's preseason coaches poll. This year's team has the return services of their three top golfers in
Jaylee Castro,
Averi Mickelson and
Ellen Spigner.
A 2025 All-Central Region selection, Spigner finished her junior year as the No. 60
th-ranked women's golfer in all of DII and was the sixth-ranked in the Central Region with a 74.9 stroke average. Castro and Mickelson also had solid scoring averages and ranked within the top-30 regionally. Castro was 30
th in the region with a 76.8 stroke average, while Mickelson was 21
st regionally with a 76.3 stroke average.
In addition to those three, second-year head coach
Lowell Stephens has bolstered the team with the additions of
Landry Addison,
Jessie Norman,
Kasey Reichard and
Laura Weber Bernardo. Addison and Norman received the initial opportunity to play in a tournament setting for the Golden Suns and will do so at this week's event.
Addison will be the first to tee off for the Golden Suns, doing so at 9:45 a.m. on Monday morning from Hole 10. She will be followed by
Jessie Norman at 9:52 a.m.,
Jaylee Castro at 10:00 a.m.,
Averi Mickelson at 10:07 a.m., and
Ellen Spigner at 10:15 a.m. In Monday's opening round, the Golden Suns will be playing alongside Augustana and Oklahoma Baptist.
Tuesday's tee times will be determined after Monday's results.
