Ellen Spigner caps legendary career with First Team All-America honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – A remarkable four-year playing career for Arkansas Tech women's golfer Ellen Spigner received a fitting bow as she was named First Team All-America by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

OFFICIAL RELEASE

A native of Nashville, Arkansas, Spigner becomes the fourth individual golfer in Arkansas Tech history to be named a WGCA All-American, joining the short-list of former Golden Suns greats – Jacqueline Klemm (2022, 2021, 2020, 2019), Peerada Piddon (2019, 2018) and Rebekah Surtevall (2015, 2014, 2013). Spigner is also the third to be a first team honoree.

Previously named the GAC Player of the Year and earning All-GAC honors for the fourth-consecutive year, Spigner turned in a great senior season as she helped lead the Golden Suns to their seventh GAC Championship all-time and first outright title since 2019. At that tournament, Spigner would win by seven strokes individually, making her the sixth women's golfer all-time at Tech win the conference tournament.

That GAC Championship was the fourth individual win of the season for Spigner, which tied her for the most in a single-season in program history. It was also her fifth career win, tying her for second all-time.

Spigner would finish her senior year as the No. 17 ranked women's golfer in all of Division II while posting a 73.4 stroke average. She would set a single-season record for rounds under par with 11 and also the career record with 25 rounds under par.
