CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – On Monday, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) released their annual All-American Scholar list and in that release, four Arkansas Tech women's golfers earned the academic plaudit.

Representing Tech were
Jaylee Castro,
Averi Mickelson, Jessie Jane Norman and
Ellen Spigner. The academic award from the WGCA was the first in the career for Norman and Spigner and the second-consecutive for Castro and Mickelson.
Castro just completed her junior season with the Golden Suns and carries a 3.83 cumulative GPA in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering/Computer Sciences. Mickelson just graduated with an undergraduate degree in Accounting at Tech and finished with a 3.76 cumulative GPA.
Norman just completed her freshman year at Tech and has a 3.91 cumulative GPA in Business Management. Spigner recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Agriculture Business at Tech and finished with a 3.53 cumulative GPA.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are as follows:
- Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 750 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
