RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech junior golfer
Ellen Spigner has been named as the Great American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.
It is the first GAC weekly award this season for Spigner and the second overall for her career.
Spigner earned the weekly conference honor after she won the first collegiate tournament of her outstanding career. Spigner would shoot one-under (212) on the Par-71 course to place her above 20 Top-100 ranked DII individual golfers among the stacked field at the Patriot Invitational.
Spigner positioned herself for the victory after a great day one on Monday where she shot one-over (72) in the opening round and then closed out the day with a three-under (68). That 68 marked the lowest single-round score of Spigner's career and is tied for the second-lowest by a Golden Sun all-time.
In her final round, Spigner shot one-over for a second time to secure her individual victory.
