Spigner qualifies for NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championship Tournament as an individual following runner-up finish at regional tournament

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – After closing out the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Central Region Tournament with a one-under (71) to finish that event runner-up, Arkansas Tech sophomore golfer Ellen Spigner will move on to the DII Women's Golf National Championship Tournament where she will participate as an individual.

ROUND THREE RESULTS

Spigner is now the fourth Golden Suns golfer to qualify for the National Championships as an individual and the first since Jaqueline Klemm did so in 2022.

This year's NCAA DII Women's Golf National Championship will be played at the Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Florida from Tuesday, May 21 – Saturday, May 25. As an individual, Spigner will only participate in the first three days of the championship during stroke play. The final two days are medal match play between teams.

A native of Nashville, Arkansas, Spigner improved yet again at the regional and climbed two more spots on the individual leaderboard where she finished runner-up. After an opening round 76 (+4), Spigner shot even-par in round two on Tuesday and then shot a one-under (71) on Wednesday to solidify her spot of advancing to the national championship.

On Wednesday, Spigner started her round from Hole No. 10 and through her first four holes was down to two-under with birdies on No. 12 and No. 13. By the time she made the turn to the front-nine, however, she was back to even-par.

On the front-nine, Spigner went on to make par on eight-straight holes before closing out her round with a birdie on No. 9 to drop to one-under.
