BLUFFTON, S.C. - The Arkansas Tech men's golf team is in a tie for third place after day one of the Oldfield Classic as they collectively shot a team score of 10-over (586) across two rounds of play on Monday.
Host, USC-Beaufort leads their event and are the only team under par at seven-under. Tech is three strokes shy of second while being 10 plus strokes ahead of No. 7 Marian, No. 35 St. Thomas, and No. 26 Catawba.
Tobey Kim continued his freshman dominance on Monday by leading the Wonder Boys with a five-under on day one. That score puts him in sole position of first place and one of six golfers that are currently under par. Kim shot the staggering five-under in round one where he earned six birdies and only one bogey. He then shot even-par in round two.
Roby Cooper carded a four-over day overall with six birdies and shot two-over in both rounds. Shaun Jones finished round one five-over but bounced back and shot even in round two. Jacob Peetoom also had a rough round one ending six-over, but came back in the second round finishing even with three birdies and an impressive eagle on a par four.
The Wonder Boys will tee off for day two at 7 a.m. alongside USC Beaufort and Catawba again.
