HUMBLE, Texas – Unable to finish play in the third and final round of the Houston Classic due to rain on Tuesday, scores reverted back Monday and its 36 holes of competition, and with that the Arkansas Tech men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place as a team among the 16-team field with a two-round team score of +13 (589).

In finishing fifth, the Wonder Boys placed higher than four teams nationally-ranked within the top-50 and tied with Midwestern State, who is ranked No. 32. On Monday, the Wonder Boys shot a 299 (+11) in the first round, but bounced back in the second round later that day and shot a two-over (290).
Individually, the Wonder Boys were led by
Shaun Jones as he finished in a tie for eighth place with a two-round score of one-under (143). In his first round, Jones was two-over (74), but in his second round, he shot three-under (69). That round saw Jones start on Hole 14 and by four holes in, he was at two-under with birdies on 16 and 17.
On the front-nine, Jones was even par with a birdie on 8 and a bogey on 9. Over his final four holes of the round, Jones shot one-under as he carded a birdie on 12.
Next for the Wonder Boys in scoring was
Roby Cooper. Cooper would finish in a tie for 15
th with a two-round score of 146 (+2). He would record consecutive rounds of one-over (73).
Tobey Kim was one shot back of Cooper and shot 147 (+3) for the tournament. Kim was two-over (74) in round one and dropped a stroke in round two.
Jacob Peetoom rounded out team scoring for the Wonder Boys. He would finish in a tie for 55
th with a nine-over (153). After shooting six-over (78) in the first round, Peetoom dropped three strokes in the second round and shot three-over (75).
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for their next tournament coming up at the Oldfield Classic, hosted by the University of South Carolina-Beaufort, February 24-25.
