Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team concluded their fall semester of competition with a 67-57 win on the road at Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday night. Tech now enters their Christmas break 7-2 overall and 3-2 in Great American Conference action.
Fueling the victory for the Golden Suns were strong offensive second and third quarters as they out-scored UAM 42-21 over those two periods. That doubled-up difference helped the Golden Suns withstand UAM out-scoring Tech in the first and fourth quarters.
The Cotton Blossoms had the early advantage and led 15-12 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, however, Tech limited the Cotton Blossoms to just four points. With the defense shutting down UAM, the Tech offense scored 18 on their end of the court to give them a 30-19 lead at the break.
Tech continued to find their stride on the offensive end in the third quarter and pushed their lead out as high as 21 points before UAM hit a three-pointer to make it an 18-point game heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, UAM made up eight points to bring the final margin of victory for Tech to 10 points. The Cotton Blossoms were able to do so thanks to three makes from three-point range and eight makes from the charity stripe.
