– The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team is back in action at home on Monday night against Southern Arkansas.
 
This will be the 102nd meeting all-time between Tech and Southern Arkansas. The series began in 1977 and the two have played regularly every year since as conference rivals. Overall, Tech leads the series 89-12.
 
Tip-off for is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from Tucker Coliseum on the campus of Arkansas Tech.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the GAC. They are coming off an impressive 89-72 win on the road at Henderson State this past Thursday night.
 
Statistically, the Golden Suns average 85.4 ppg to rank first in the GAC and are allowing 68.3 ppg to rank 10th. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are shooting at an overall clip of .445 (210-of-472) to rank first in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .418 mark (164-of-392) to rank 11th.
 
From beyond the arch, the Golden Suns are shooting .301 (56-of-186) to rank eighth and are allowing their opponents to make three-pointers at a .385 clip (50-of-130) to rank 12th. At the charity stripe, the Golden Suns are shooting .748 (122-of-163) to rank seventh.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have three players scoring in double figures. Logan Young leads the way at 13.6 ppg followed by AbbiGrace Cunningham at 11.4 ppg. Dessie Lancaster rounds out double-figure scoring with 10.6 ppg.
 
Lancaster leads the team in rebound average at 7.3 rpg. In terms of assists, Shalyn Lyle leads the team at 3.1 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Young at 1.1 spg. Young also leads the team in blocks at 1.1 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 19th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 369-154 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
 
SCOUTING THE MULERIDERS
Southern Arkansas is out to a 5-3 start to their season overall and are 1-1 in the GAC. They are coming off a 62-58 win at home against Oklahoma Baptist back on Saturday, December 6, but their most-recent action came on Tuesday, December 9 in an exhibition game at Arkansas State.
 
Statistically, the Muleriders average 69.8 ppg and rank seventh in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Muleriders rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 59.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Muleriders are eighth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .409 (201-of-491) and are allowing their opponents a .348 mark (154-of-443) to rank second.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Muleriders shoot at a clip of .335 (52-of-155) to rank fifth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .263 (44-of-167) to rank third. From the free throw line, the Muleriders shoot .675 as a team (104-of-154) to rank 11th.
 
Individually, the Muleriders have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Blythe Crawley and her 12.9 ppg. Hope Bump is next at 11.3 ppg while Elena Lijo-Rodriguez rounds out double-figure scoring at 11.1 ppg.
 
Lijo-Rodriguez is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.9 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Marlee Bright leads the team and is averaging 4.5 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Muleriders are led in steals by Bright at 2.6 steals per game and in blocks by Lijo-Rodriguez at 1.5 blocks per game.
 
The Muleriders are coached by Darrick Matthews, who is in his second season at Southern Arkansas and his 12th overall. In his time at SAU, Matthews is 19-18 and is 199-133-1 overall.
