Golden Suns make quick work of Rangers

ALVA, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team took care of business on the road on Friday afternoon with a dominant 3-0 sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma.

The Golden Suns have now won four-straight, all in conference play, and are 11-8 overall and 7-2 in the GAC. Their seven conference victories are now the most in a season since 2021.

Against Northwestern Oklahoma, the Golden Suns once more held a dominant advantage offensively, totaling 44 kills in the three-set match. NWOSU, on the other end, would manage just 26 kills. Tech was also not only overwhelmingly better in total kills, but they did also so at an efficient rate, committing just six attack errors on 109 total attacks for a .349 attack percentage.

The attack percentage against NWOSU was the second-highest this season for the Golden Suns. Their highest mark was .457 in a 3-0 sweep of Southern New Hampshire back in mid-September.

Much like their win at Southwestern Oklahoma the day prior, the Golden Suns spread their offense around as five different players had at least seven kills. Erika Hernandez would pace the team in kills with 11. She also did not commit an error on 16 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .688.

Millie Allgood was next in kills with eight followed by Henley Hooks and Savannah Meyer with seven apiece. Once more Allgood led the team in digs with 13 and was followed by Samanatha Wojtowicz with 11.

Kenzie Garrett and Emma Kiser split setting duties and each had 18.

The Golden Suns will now prepare for a week at home. They will play consecutive days, starting Thursday, October 23 against Southeastern Oklahoma. That match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start. The following day, Tech will play East Central in a match slated to start at 4 p.m.
