LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Arkansas Tech men's golf team finished play at the 2024 Las Vegas Desert Classic on Tuesday and improved one spot on the team leaderboard, finishing 16
th among the stout 20-team field.
FINAL RESULTS
In the third and final round, the Wonder Boys dropped two strokes from their team score from Monday's second round and collectively shot a seven-over (295). Over the course of the event, the Wonder Boys improved upon their team score each round.
Leading the charge for the Wonder Boys in the final round was senior
Jackson Cole. After an opening round in which he shot four-under (68), Cole fell some at the conclusion of the second round as he shot five-over (77), but he would bounce back in a major way in the final round with a five-under (67).
Cole's low round on Tuesday placed him in a tie for 13
th place individually among the 100-golfer field.
Oscar Darlington also turned in a scorecard in the red on Tuesday as he shot a one-under (71). That helped Darlington climb 10 places individually and finish T64. After his opening round 80, Darlington dropped strokes over the final two rounds.
Jacob Peetoom and
Shaun Jones rounded out scoring for the Wonder Boys in the final round as Peetom shot a six-over (78) and Jones a seven-over (79).
The Wonder Boys will return to action next week at the Hillcat Classic. The two-day event will take place at the Bailey Ranch Golf Club in Owasso, Oklahoma from Monday, March 11 – Tuesday, March 12.
