OWASSO, Okla. – Leading the field heading into the final round, Arkansas Tech senior golfer
Jackson Cole shot even par (72) on Tuesday to secure individual medalist honors by four strokes at the Hillcat Classic. As a team, Arkansas Tech finished runner-up among the eight-team field.
FINAL RESULTS
For Cole, the individual win is the second in his career as a Wonder Boy with his initial victory coming at the Newman Invitational back in Fall 2022. At the Hillcat Classic, Cole had rounds of 70, 68 and 72 to give him a 54-hole total of 210. That ties for the seventh-lowest 54 score in program history.
Finishing at six-under for the tournament, Cole cleared the field by four strokes.
Behind Cole on Tuesday and for the tournament was
Roby Cooper. Cooper shot a three-over (75) in the final round and finished tied for ninth individually with a three-round score of 221.
Luke Hanson also shot a three-over (75) on Tuesday and totaled 224 to place him 14
th individually.
Oscar Darlington and
Jacob Peetoom both five-over (77) on Tuesday and finished one stroke apart overall as Darlington shot 225 for the tournament and Peetoom, 226.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for their next tournament, the Arkansas Collegiate. The two-day event will take place at the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado and will run from Monday, March 25 – Tuesday, March 26.
