Ellen Spigner is two shots clear of the field on the individual leaderboard.
ROUND ONE RESULTS
Monday's lone round of action saw the Golden Suns have a great day overall as they shot a five-over (293). Through that opening round, Tech sits in second place and is three strokes back of Central Missouri. The Golden Suns' team score of 293 is the lowest round this season, besting their previous low of 299 from the opening round of the Grace Shin Invitational this past fall.
Four of the five golfers in Tech's lineup shot scores in the 70s on Monday with Spigner dipping her score into the 60s with a three-under (69). In her round, Spigner shot even-par on the front-nine with a birdie on three and a bogey on nine. Her back-nine was salty with birdies on 10, 15 and 18.
Four strokes back of Spigner and tied for 8
th individually was
Claire Orcutt. Her opening round 73 (+1) featured three bogey and two birdies. Both of her birdies came over the final three holes as she lowered her score from three-over to one-over.
Two back of Orcutt was
Jaylee Castro as she finished tied for 15
th with a three-over (75).
Averi Mickelson is tied for 24
th as she was one stroke back of Castro to round out counted scores for Tech while
Kylie Rehberger was a shot of Mickelson's score and is tied for 32
nd.
The second and final round will begin on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start time of 8:30 a.m. The Golden Suns will be grouped with Central Missouri and Rogers State.
