RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech football team was held down in their Saturday afternoon home game against No. 5/7-ranked Ouachita Baptist, losing to the Tigers, 38-7.
Ouachita grabbed control of the game from the outset, forcing the Wonder Boys to go three-and-out on all four of their drives in the first quarter. The Tigers' offense would capitalize on those short drives and scored touchdowns on each of their first three possessions of the first quarter to take a 21-0 lead through one period of play.
The Wonder Boys would settle the game down some in the second quarter and began to have success on both ends of the ball as they held Ouachita scoreless in the period, but were unable to score points themselves.
The stronger defensive showing for the Wonder Boys continued early in the second half as they forced the Tigers to punt on each of their first two possessions. Ouachita would end their scoring drought in with 2:49 left in the third quarter with their fourth rushing touchdown of the game.
The Wonder Boys then put together their lone scoring drive of the game when they got the ball back. On that drive, the Wonder Boys were methodical and covered 75 yards on 11 plays. The final play of that 6:17 drive was a nine-yard touchdown pass from
Ethan Forrester to
Jared Long.
Ouachita would go on to score the final 10 points of the game after that to bring the score to its final of 38-7.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for their final home game of the season this coming Saturday as they play host to East Central. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and Senior Day ceremonies will take place prior to kick-off.
