RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech football team lost their final home game of the 2026 season on Saturday afternoon as Oklahoma Baptist made a last-second field goal to break what was a 31-all tie.
Prior to that walk-off kick, the Bison got on the scoreboard first and raced out to a 14-3 lead through the opening quarter. The Wonder Boys, however, wasted little time in the second quarter scoring their first touchdown of the game on a 59-yard jet sweep rush by
Jamarcus Sandidge, making it 14-10.
The Bison and Wonder Boys would trade touchdowns over the remainder of the second quarter as they game went to the break with Oklahoma Baptist leading 21-17.
Only an Oklahoma Baptist field goal accounted for scoring in the third quarter as the Bison carried a 24-17 lead into the fourth quarter. That lead would not last long, however, as on the very first play of the fourth, the Wonder Boys scored a touchdown on a 36-yard run by
Kollin Robinson, tying the game at 24-all.
The game continued to swing back-and-forth as the Bison scored a touchdown on their next drive to go back up by seven, 31-24, with 11:28 left on the clock.
The Wonder Boys would get a great kickoff return by
Tiquez Mallette to start their drive at their own 43-yardline. Tech then proceeded to go on a methodical 11-play drive that ate up just over six minutes of game time and was capped with a nine-yard score from Robinson, tying the game at 31-all with 5:12 to go.
Unfortunately, the Wonder Boys would not get another opportunity to possess the ball on offense as Oklahoma Baptist managed to get the ball to the Tech 17-yardline and dwindle the clock down to four seconds before attempting their game-winning kick from 35 yards.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare to conclude their season on the road at No. 2-ranked Harding on Saturday, November 14. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Searcy.
