Wonder Boys selected for eighth-straight NCAA Regional Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – By virtue of winning their second-consecutive Great American Conference Tournament Championship just days ago, there was no question if the No. 4-nationally ranked Arkansas Tech men's golf team would make the upcoming NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional Tournament, rather it was just awaiting the official announcement from the national office, which came down on Friday.

OFFICIAL NCAA ANNOUNCEMENT

In that announcement, the Wonder Boys ranked second in the Central Region and are officially bound for their eighth-straight* NCAA Regional Tournament. This year's Central/Midwest Super Regional will take place May 6-8 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.

The top four teams from each super regional and the top individual not with an advancing team will advance to the National Finals. This year's finals are taking place from May 17-21 at the PGA National Resort; The Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Wonder Boys have advanced to the National Finals in each of the last three full years of competition (2019, 2018, 2017) and have moved on to match play each of those years as well.

This year, the Wonder Boys were led once more by Luke Calcatera, who, in his 10th season at the helm, garnered his fifth GAC Coach of the Year honor ahead of the GAC Tournament. Calcatera has had the luxury of putting out a consistent five-golfer lineup that recently saw all five golfers receive All-GAC honors.

True freshman Santiago De La Fuente was a unanimous First Team selection while also being unanimously being named the league's Freshman of the Year. Veteran standout Austin Gean joined De La Fuente as a unanimous choice for the first team. Another freshman and GAC Tournament Individual medalist Henry Frizzell joined the Jacobs brothers, Andre and Francois on the Second Team.

All five of these golfers figure to be in the lineup at the Super Regional.
