HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Day two of the Battle for the Belt concludes and the Wonder Boys earn their third consecutive 1st-place victory.
Santiago De La Fuente once again leads the Wonder Boys in individual scores, earning a -6 par 1st place finish (69, 66, 76). The nationally ranked No. 11 team outshot their host team, Henderson State, by 26 strokes.
Arkansas Tech finished a total 6-under-par (283, 294, 291), their second-lowest (best) score of the season, only 2 strokes shy of beating their own record from The Natural State Classic. All five team players finished in the individual Top-20 with four sticking to the Top-10. De La Fuente shot the lowest round of the tournament, his best game of the season, and set a new personal best since starting his college career.
Following in 2nd is
Francois Jacobs who followed 3 strokes behind De La Fuente (74, 70, 75). Last season Jacobs, and his brother
Andre Jacobs, were inducted into the PING All-Americans for the 2019-20 season.
Austin Gean followed in 4th finishing even-par (70, 75, 71) and locking the last Top-5 position for the Wonder Boys.
Henry Frizzell, last week's second-place top team finisher, tied for 9th and finishing 7-over-par (74, 73, 76). And rounding out the team's score is
Andre Jacobs who tied for 12th, one stroke behind Frizzell (70,76,78). In individual play,
Trevor Brunson also tied for 12th (75, 75, 74).
Needless to say, the Wonder Boys extended their hot-streak this week.
