INNISBROOK, Fla. – Taking part in one of the most competitive fields assembled for a regular season tournament with 11 of the 17 teams nationally-ranked, the top-ranked Arkansas Tech men's golf team showed a bit of their depth playing without one of their top golfers and held their own, finishing in a tie for sixth at the Copperhead Championship.

On Monday, the Wonder Boys played 36 holes and ended the day in a tie for fourth with team scores of 294 and 289. On Tuesday, low team scores were tough to come by and Tech dropped a couple of rungs on the leaderboard, finishing in the tie for sixth with host West Florida.
Individually, the Wonder Boys were led by
Francois Jacobs. The League City, Texas native shot three-over (216) for the tournament and finished in a tie for seventh place. On Monday, Jacobs positioned himself high atop the individual leaderboard with under-par rounds of 69 (-2) and 70 (-1). In the final round on Tuesday, Jacobs shot six-over (77), settling him the tie for seventh.
Scoring behind Jacobs was
Holden Hamilton. After making his season debut for the Wonder Boys as an individual golfer in their last tournament, Hamilton was thrust into the lineup following a late scratch to one of the lineup regulars in
Andre Jacobs. Hamilton certainly rose to the promotion and tied for 19
th among the 90-golfer field. On Monday, Hamilton had rounds of 73 (+2) and 71 (E) and on the final day, Hamilton shot a five-over (76).
Henry Frizzell climbed 22 spots on the leaderboard after Monday as he shot an even-par (71) on Tuesday. The ascension in the final round placed Frizzell in a tie for 38
th.
Santiago De La Fuente also had an improved final round as he rose 16 slots to tie for 55
th. Tuesday's round saw De La Fuente shoot a two-over (73).
Hayes Hamilton factored into the team score each of the first two rounds and ended the tournament tied for 50
th.
The Wonder Boys now have one more tournament this fall and will be preparing for the two-day Atlanta National Invitational. The event, which is being held at the Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton, Ga., is set to take place from Monday, October 25 – Tuesday, October 26.
