SAN MARCOS, Calif. — The Golden Suns are in sixth place after Day 1 at the Fujikura Invitational hosted by California State-San Marcos, carding a 306 (+18) after the first 18 holes.
The current leader, Barry University, is 15 strokes ahead of the Suns with a Day 1 card of 291 (+3). Barry is currently ranked fourth in the nation; Arkansas Tech is fifth.
Jacqueline Klemm led the way for Tech, carding an impressive 73 (+1). She is currently in a six-way tie for seventh place.
Peerada Piddon came next, carding a 75 and tying with four other golfers for 15
thplace.
Pia Nunbhakdi followed, carding a 77 and landing herself in ten-way for 27
thplace.
Sydney Staton carded an 81, tying with four others for 63
rdplace.
Allie Weiner rounded out the Suns' card, carding an 84 and landing in a nine-way place for 76
thplace.
The Golden Suns return to the course tomorrow morning for the second (and final) round.
