GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Arkansas Tech women's golf put together their best round of the season as they fired a 289 to take second place finish at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Tech finished the tournament with an overall score of 580, within five strokes of tying for first with CSU-San Marcos. The Golden Suns had four player finish inside the top ten, led by
Peerada Piddon and
Allie Weiner who tied for fifth. Piddon carded a 73 (+1) in her final round, while Weiner recorded a 71 (-1). Weiner set new career-bests as her 36-hole score of 144 (E) is a career-low and her tie for fifth place is a person-best.
Jacqueline Klemm and
Sydney Staton joined Piddon and Weiner inside the top ten as they both tied for eighth place. Klemm finished the tournament with a 72 (E), while Staton carded a 73 (+1) in her final round. Staton also finished the tournament with the second most pars with 27.
Arkansas Tech was the only team in the tournament to have four players finish in the top 10. The Golden Suns had the lowest score on par 5 holes among all 19 teams in the two-day event. Tech also ranked second in the tournament with 22 birdies and third with 119 pars.
The Suns will travel to Edmond, Okla. for their next tournament, as Central Oklahoma hosts the UCO RCB Classic on Oct. 1-2.
