EDMOND, Okla. – After entering the day in fourth place and trailing the leader by four-strokes, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns women's golf team rallied to come away with the tournament win at the UCO RCB Classic in Edmond, Okla. on Tuesday afternoon.
The 10
th-ranked Golden Suns fired a second round 295 (+7) to win the UCO RCB Classic by two strokes. Tech's second round score of 295 was the lowest round of the day and is the third lowest round of the season for the Suns.
Pia Nunbhakdi and
Sydney Staton each finished in the top-10 as Nunbhakdi tied for sixth and Staton tied for eighth. Nunbhakdi shot a second-round score 74 (+3) for an overall score of 147 (+5), while Staton shot a second-round score of 73 (+2) for an overall score of 148 (+6).
Jacqueline Klemm,
Peerada Piddon, and
Makenzie Douglas all put together top 15 performances, making Tech the only school to have five players finish inside the top-15. Klemm finished tied for 12
th, Piddon finished tied for 14
th and Douglas finished tied for 16
th.
The Golden Suns will travel to Maryville, Mo. for their final tournament of the Fall, as Tech participates in the Midwest Fall Classic on Sunday, Oct. 7, through Monday, Oct. 8.
