EDMOND, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns turn in a first round score of 299 to sit in ninth place overall after day one of the UCO RCB Classic in Edmond, Okla. 

Tech led the 17-team field in birdies with 12 and also led in par-4 scoring at 4.22. The Golden Suns are four strokes back from Southwestern Oklahoma for first place.

Makenzie Douglas put together the best round of the day for Tech as she fired an opening round score of one over-par 73 (+1). Douglas carded four birdies and nine pars.

Pia Nunbhakdi turned in the second-best score of the day for the Suns as she recorded four birdies on her way to a one over-par round of 73 (+2). Nunbhakdi finished the day in a tie for eighth. Peerada Piddon and Sydney Staton followed right behind Nunbhakdi as Piddon carded a 74 (+3), while Staton finished with a 75 (+4).
 
Arkansas Tech will finish play in Edmond on Tuesday with the second and final round of the tournament.
