WONDER BOYS BATTLE ECU IN ADA THIS WEEKEND

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys will look for their third consecutive Great American Conference series victory this weekend, as Tech takes on East Central in Ada, Okla. in a three-game series. Play begins on Friday with a doubleheader scheduled for noon. Game three is set for Saturday at noon.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Arkansas Tech holds a 22-15 advantage against East Central since the first meeting in 2000. The Wonder Boys won two of three games last season.
 
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (18-13, 14-4 GAC) enters the weekend after a 5-4 loss to Harding on Wednesday in Searcy. The Wonder Boys defeated Oklahoma Baptist twice in a three-game series last weekend, keeping Tech in second place in the GAC standings.
 
The Wonder Boys are 5-4 over their last nine conference games. During that time, Seth Wheeler leads Arkansas Tech with a .400 batting average and four runs batted in. Dylan McDearmon recorded a team-high four hits last weekend against Oklahoma Baptist. McDearmon currently ranks 11th in Division II with 13 doubles this season, and Zach Klockowski ranks second in the GAC with 30 runs batted in and seven home runs.
 
Kyle Wilson leads Tech's starting pitchers with a 4-0 record and a 2.28 earned-run average, third lowest in the conference. Wilson is second in the GAC in WHIP, allowing just under one walk and/or hit per inning. Trent Armstrong has pitched a team-high 53.1 innings in eight starts this season and has maintained a 2.70 earned-run average. Geoffrey Birkemeier has posted a 4-3 record in 35.1 innings. Quentin Bowling boasts a team-low 1.62 ERA and three saves, while Jesse Harbin ranks 19th in Division II with five saves in just eight appearances.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
East Central (9-17, 8-10 GAC) is coming off a series against Henderson State in Arkadelphia, in which the Tigers lost two of three games. ECU is currently tied with Harding for sixth in the GAC standings, six games behind Arkansas Tech.
 
Jake MeKeel leads East Central and ranks third in the GAC with a .398 batting average. Connor Stevenson is hitting .321 this season and leads the Tigers with five home runs and 24 runs batted in. Carson Bowen and Kaleb Matthews are both hitting over .300, as well, while Matthews is tied for the team-high with nine doubles.
 
Brandon Dusenberry has pitched over 25 percent of ECU's innings played this season, and his 55.0 innings leads the conference. Dusenberry's four complete games ranks fourth in Division II. Jake Wellington has started five games and posted a 2.97 earned-run average, and Dylan Sanchez has started eight games but is just 1-7 on the season.
