PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team had their 2026 season come to a close on Saturday with a 5-2 loss in an elimination game at the NCAA Central Region Tournament against No. 5-seed Augustana.
The Wonder Boys, who finished runner-up in the Great American Conference in the regular season and later went on to capture their first-ever GAC Tournament title, finished their season 36-22 overall. It was the fourth-straight year in which the Wonder Boys won 30 or more games and was also the four-consecutive season where they made an appearance at the Central Region Tournament.
In the game Augustana, the Wonder Boys got a solid starting pitching performance from
Cole Dickson. The senior right-hander would pitch 7.0 innings scattering five hits while allowing four runs (three earned) with three walks and five strikeouts.
The runs scored against Dickson came in the second and fourth innings as Augustana hit a two-run home run in the second and scored twice in the fourth.
Tech got on the board for the first time in the top of the seventh inning as
Luke Caussey drove in
Kirby Jenkins on a groundout to second base. Earlier in the frame, Jenkins led the inning off with a double to right-centerfield.
An inning later,
Cole Dawson hit a solo home run off the scoreboard in what was his final at-bat as a Wonder Boy. That shot made it a 4-2 game going into the bottom of the eighth.
Augustana was able score an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth and then retired the Wonder Boys in order in the top of the ninth to end the game.
