WONDER BOYS HOST HENDERSON STATE ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech baseball will look to continue its best conference start in program history, as the Wonder Boys host Henderson State this weekend in a three-game series. Play will begin with a doubleheader on Sunday, March 12, beginning at 3 p.m. The series will then conclude with a game on Monday at 1 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Tech leads the all-time series against Henderson State, 86-64. The teams met six times last season, with the Reddies winning four of the contests.
 
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (13-7, 9-0 GAC) has won its first nine conference games for the first time in program history, and the Wonder Boys have won eight of their last nine. Tech enters the weekend after splitting a nonconference doubleheader with No. 18 Delta State.
 
Tech is hitting .276 as a team this season, third-best average in the Great American Conference. Zach Klockowski leads Arkansas Tech with a .386 average is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak. Klockowski ranks first in the conference and 18th in Division II with six home runs this season. Dylan McDearmon is batting .352 for the Wonder Boys and has reached base in 19 consecutive games. McDearmon leads Tech with eight multiple-hit games this season.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys rank third in the conference with a 4.59 earned-run average. During Tech's nine GAC games this season, the Wonder Boys are allowing less than two runs per game. Geoffrey Birkemeier leads Tech's starting pitchers with a 2.08 ERA in 21.2 innings. Kyle Wilson has pitched a team-high two complete-game shutouts this season, while striking out 30 batters in 25.1 innings. Trent Armstrong leads the Wonder Boys with 30.0 innings pitched and is one win shy of tying Arkansas Tech's record for career wins since moving to Division II.
 
SCOUTING THE REDDIES
Henderson State (13-5, 7-2 GAC) is currently tied for third in the GAC standings, two games behind Arkansas Tech. The Reddies swept three games against Harding in last weekend's conference series. In their most recent game, the Reddies fell, 6-5, to No. 24 Union on Tuesday.
 
As a team, the Reddies are hitting just .247 at the plate, but HSU's earned-run average of 3.19 leads the GAC. Joe Myers leads the offense with a .344 batting average, while Dylan McCain boasts a team-high 15 runs batted in. Chris Hunt leads the Reddies on the mound with 33.1 innings pitched and a 2.16 earned-run average. Bryant Haralson is coming off his second complete-game of the season, earning his third win on an eight-strikeout performance against Harding. Haralson has struck out 32 batters and walked just one, leading the nation in strikeout to walk ratio.
