SURTEVALL WINS SUPER REGION CHAMPIONSHIP, SUNS FINISH SEVENTH
The sophomore advances to the Division II Golf Championships May 15-18.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Rebecka Surtevall carded a final-round 77 to capture the overall Super Region 3 Championship, leading Arkansas Tech to a seventh-place finish today at St. Joseph Country Club. With her individual championship, Surtevall advances to the NCAA Division II Golf Championships, to be played May 15-18 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The sophomore finished with a three-round score of 231, winning the event by two strokes over Central Oklahoma's Aly Seng. The Golden Suns placed seventh in the event with a three-round score of 997, missing the cut for the national championship event by 22 strokes.

Central Oklahoma captured the team title by 13 strokes, posting a three-round score of 951. Augustana finished in second at 964, while Northeastern State was the final team to advance to championship play with a score of 975.

The three top teams advance to championship play, while the top three individuals from non-qualifying teams also advance to the championship field. Surtevall was joined by Southwestern Oklahoma's Ashlynn Hall (fifth place) and Harding's Emily Plyler (tied for sixth place), who won a playoff over Henderson State's Kendall Earp for the third and final individual spot.

Niki Possage carded a final-round 84 to finish tied for 16th, Taylor Kline added an 84 to tie for 23rd, while Megan Jeffery finished 48th after her final-round 88 and Megan Kelley's 94 placed her 48th.

The Golden Suns were one of five teams separated by seven strokes in the fourth through eighth-place finishes in the tournament as fourth-place Southwestern Oklahoma was just four strokes ahead of the Golden Suns with a 993, Harding and Henderson tied for fifth at 994, and Concordia-St. Paul finished in eighth with a score of 1000. Minnesota State-Mankato rounded out the regional field with a 1023.
