Rounds in the red from Norman and Spigner help Golden Suns widen gap at GAC Championship Tournament

TULSA, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech women's golf team created a bit more separation between themselves and the rest of the field at the 2026 Great American Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament on Tuesday and will carry a 16-stroke lead into Wednesday's final round.

A key to the Golden Suns creating the distance were under-par rounds from Jessie Norman and Ellen Spigner. Both would shoot one-under (70) for Tuesday's second round. For Norman, she alternated birdies and bogeys, recording four birdies and three bogeys. Her final bogey came at No. 11, but after making par on No. 12, she birdied the par-3 No. 13.

Norman would go on to par out the final five holes to finish her round one-under. Her performance on Tuesday shot her up 22 places on the individual leaderboard and into a tie for sixth place overall.

Spigner's round was mostly clean and filled with pars as she made 15. Her lone blemish was a bogey on the par-3 No. 8. She would get back to even at No. 11 with a birdie and then made par on six-straight holes to bring her to No. 18.

On her final hole of the round, Spigner made birdie to close out the round at one-under. That was a significant birdie and red round for Spigner as it was the 25th career round at/or under par, setting a new Golden Suns career record. It was also her 11th such round this year, adding to her single-season record that she set in the second round of Tech's regular season finale.

In shooting one-under, Spigner also placed herself atop the individual leaderboard and will come into the final round on Wednesday with a four-stroke lead.

For that final round, the Golden Suns will be in the final grouping out on the course and will begin tee times at 10:30 a.m. They will be grouped with Southwestern Oklahoma and Henderson State.
