TULSA, Okla. – The No. 31-ranked Arkansas Tech women's golf team is atop the leaderboard through the opening round of the 2026 Great American Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament. This year's tournament is being held at the par-71, 5,710-yard Stone Creek Course at the Page Belcher Golf Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As a team, the Golden Suns shot 301 (+17) and are five strokes ahead of second-place Northwestern Oklahoma. Three Golden Suns golfers, all of whom received All-GAC recognition at the awards ceremony on Monday evening, would end their first round in the top-10.
Newly named GAC Player of the Year,
Ellen Spigner is leading the team after shooting an even-par (71). In her round, Spigner was two-over through the front nine, but got back to even on the back nine with three birdies, one bogey and five pars. She is currently in second-place and two strokes back of the individual lead.
Averi Mickelson and
Jaylee Castro would both card rounds of four-over (75) to tie for sixth. Mickelson, a Second Team All-GAC honoree, made birdie on her first and final hole of her round. Castro, a First Team All-GAC selection, led the team in pars with 13. She also made birdie on the par-3 No. 15.
