LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team remains at home this weekend for their final series at Baswell Field this regular season.
 
The series is scheduled to start with a single game on Friday night starting at 6 p.m. and conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Crimson Storm have met 30 times before their clash this weekend. Tech holds a 26-4 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the weekend series at 22-18 overall and are 16-8 in the GAC. They are coming off a series loss on the road at Henderson State this past weekend, but most-recently won a midweek game at home, 2-0, against Christian Brothers this past Tuesday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .268 as a team (332-for-1,241) with 234 runs scored, 64 doubles, eight triples and 22 home runs. Kirby Jenkins currently leads the team in batting average at .341 (47-for-138). Jenkins has also been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .652 slugging percentage thanks to 13 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 45 and runs scored with 34.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.26 and have struck out 260 batters in 323.2 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Henderson State and figure to be among the rotation this weekend against Southern Nazarene.
 
Jacobitz is 6-4 with a 3.36 ERA and has 46 strikeouts in 56.1 innings. Hutchison is 5-5 with a 5.32 ERA and has 30 strikeouts in 44.0 innings. Dickson is 3-3 with a 6.09 ERA and has 44 strikeouts in 44.1 innings.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 622-443.
 
SCOUTING CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
Southern Nazarene enters the weekend series at Tech at 8-30 overall and are 1-23 in the GAC. They have won two-straight games after sweeping a road doubleheader at Oklahoma Panhandle State this past Tuesday.
 
Offensively, the Crimson Storm are hitting .306 as a team (373-for-1,218) with 284 runs scored, 77 doubles, seven triples and 45 home runs. They are led in hitting by Cade Ross at .372 (51-for-137). Josh Bay has been the biggest power threat for the Crimson Storm as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .792 thanks to 12 doubles, two triples and 16 home runs. Bay also leads the team in RBIs with 45 while Ross leads the team in runs scored with 44.
 
On the mound, the Crimson Storm have a 12.61 team ERA and have struck out 216 batters in 288.1 innings of work.
 
The Crimson Storm used a weekend rotation of Lane Benevidas, Garrett Payne and Jaxon Gless in their weekend series against East Central. Those three figure to be in the mix for the rotation against Tech.
 
Benevidas is 2-2 with a 10.47 ERA and has 15 strikeouts in 32.2 innings. Payne is 1-3 with a 9.84 ERA and has 31 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. Gless is 0-0 with an 18.00 ERA and has six strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
 
The Crimson Storm are led by Chris Moddelmog, who is in his first season as head coach at Southern Nazarene and his fourth overall. In his time at SNU, Moddelmog is 8-30 and is 90-99 overall.
