LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team returns home on Tuesday afternoon for the first of four games to be played at Baswell Field this week.
 
The midweek game against Christian Brothers is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Buccaneers have met 44 times before their clash on Tuesday. Tech holds a 35-9 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the midweek game at 21-18 overall and are coming off a series loss on the road at Henderson State this past weekend. In that series, the Wonder Boys lost the first game, 3-0 and then bounced back for an 8-0 win in the second game. Tech dropped the rubber game, 14-1.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .270 as a team (328-for-1,216) with 232 runs scored, 62 doubles, eight triples and 22 home runs. Kirby Jenkins currently leads the team in batting average at .341 (46-for-135). Jenkins has also been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .652 slugging percentage thanks to 12 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 43 and runs scored with 34.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.41 and have struck out 254 batters in 314.2 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend at Henderson State and figure to not see action against CBU.
 
Derek Rockett has started the last five midweek games. He is currently 2-3 with a 9.00 ERA and has 20 strikeouts in 26.0 innings. Zach Moss and Vaughn O'Leary have also started midweek game this season.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 621-443.
 
SCOUTING CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
Christian Brothers enters the midweek game at Tech at 10-26 overall. They are coming off a series loss at home against Mississippi College this past weekend. In that series, the Buccaneers dropped the first game, 3-2, won the second game, 11-1 and lost the finale, 13-6.
 
Offensively, the Buccaneers are hitting .272 as a team (295-for-1,084) with 180 runs scored, 58 doubles, three triples and 20 home runs. They are led in hitting by Isaac Lemanski at .344 (44-for-128). Ivan Zambrano has been the biggest power threat for the Buccaneers as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .476 thanks to eight doubles and eight home runs. Zambrano is also tied for the team-lead in RBIs with Will Gossett at 19 while Shahkai Matthews leads the team in runs scored with 23.
 
On the mound, the Buccaneers have an 8.13 team ERA and have struck out 231 batters in 281.0 innings of work.
 
The Buccaneers used a weekend rotation of Kade Johnson, Charlie Faoro and Cameron Olivo in their weekend series against Mississippi College. Those three figure to not see action against Tech.
 
The Buccaneers are led by Zach Ullrich, who is in his second season as head coach at Christian Brothers and his sixth overall. In his time at CBU, Ullrich is 27-55 and is 130-118 overall.
