RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – In the final game played at Baswell Field during the 2026 regular season, the Arkansas Tech baseball team continued their offensive onslaught from the final day of their series at Oklahoma Baptist this past Sunday and run-ruled visiting Union, 19-5 in seven innings on Tuesday.
The scoring started early for the Wonder Boys as they scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The first of those runs came home on a RBI fielder's choice by
Kirby Jenkins. Later in the inning,
Brendyn Bard drove in two of his five runs on a single to shallow left field.
Union responded with two runs of their own in the second, making it a one-run game, but the Wonder Boys got both of those runs back in their half on a RBI double by
Derek Rockett and a sac fly RBI by
Levi Martin.
After allowing a run in the top of the third, the Wonder Boys pulled away and took control with six runs in the bottom of the frame for an 11-3 lead. Union plated a run in the fourth to make it 11-4.
Looking to score at least three runs in the bottom of the sixth to put them in a position to end the game in seven innings, the Wonder Boys struck for eight runs in the sixth to give them five runs of cushion in regards to the 10-run rule. The big blow that inning was a bases clearing double by Bard.
Those five extra runs ended up being more than enough by four as Union scored a run in the top of the seventh, but all it did was bring the score to its final of 19-5.
