LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team is set to play their final home game of the regular season on Tuesday afternoon against Union.
 
The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. from Baswell Field.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Bulldogs have met 12 times before their clash on Tuesday and will playing each other for the second time this season. Union won the first meeting 10-9 at home back on March 24. Tech currently holds a 10-2 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the game at 27-19 overall. They are coming off a series win on the road at Oklahoma Baptist this past weekend. Tech would drop the first game 4-3 on a walk-off single, but bounced back in a major way over the final two games, winning 15-3 and 23-4.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .281 as a team (403-for-1,435) with 303 runs scored, 84 doubles, eight triples and 27 home runs. Kirby Jenkins currently leads the team in batting average at .348 (55-for-158). Jenkins has also been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .646 slugging percentage thanks to 14 doubles, three triples and nine home runs. Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 49 and runs scored with 44.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.02 and have struck out 313 batters in 369.1 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend at Oklahoma Baptist and likely won't see any action against Union.
 
As far as midweek action goes, Derek Rockett has started the last seven midweek games. He is currently 3-3 with a 7.39 ERA and has 24 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. Zach Moss and Vaughn O'Leary have also started midweek game this season.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 627-444.
 
SCOUTING UNION
Union enters the midweek game against Tech at 20-24 overall and are 11-16 in the GAC. They are coming off a series win at home against Montevallo this past weekend. Union would drop the first game of the series, but bounced back for a pair of one-run victories over the next two games to claim the series.
 
Offensively, the Bulldogs are hitting .283 as a team (413-for-1,459) with 413 runs scored, 77 doubles, 10 triples and 28 home runs. They are led in hitting by Elijah Ramsey at .344 (56-for-163). Grant Ross has been the biggest power threat for the Bulldogs as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .545 thanks to 16 doubles and seven home runs. Grant also leads the team in RBIs with 43 and in runs scored with 38.
 
On the mound, the Bulldogs have a 6.92 team ERA and have struck out 342 batters in 367.0 innings of work.
 
The Bulldogs used a weekend rotation of Lane Evans, Carter Daniel and Chris Troyer in their weekend series against Montevallo. Those three figure to not see action against Tech.
 
The Bulldogs are led by Casey McGehee, who is in his fourth season as head coach at Union. In his time at Union, McGehee is 72-113 overall.
