LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team remains on the road this weekend and will play a three-game series at Henderson State.
 
The series is scheduled to start with a single game on Thursday night starting at 6 p.m. and conclude with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Reddies have met 187 times before their clash this weekend. Tech holds a 109-78 lead in the series and won the midweek game earlier this year.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the series 20-16 overall and are coming off a 6-1 loss on the road at Mississippi College this past Tuesday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .273 as a team (307-for-1,233) with 223 runs scored, 54 doubles, eight triples and 22 home runs. Kirby Jenkins currently leads the team in batting average at .349 (44-for-126). Jenkins has also been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .675 slugging percentage thanks to 11 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 42 and runs scored with 33.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.34 and have struck out 222 batters in 291.2 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Ouachita Baptist and figure to be among the rotation this weekend against Henderson State.
 
Jacobitz is 5-4 with a 3.99 ERA and has 37 strikeouts in 47.1 innings. Hutchison is 5-4 with a 4.83 ERA and has 25 strikeouts in 41.0 innings. Dickson is 3-2 with a 6.41 ERA and has 35 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 620-441.
 
SCOUTING HENDERSON STATE
Henderson State enters the series against Tech at 19-13 overall and 10-11 in the GAC. They are coming off a series win on the road at Southern Arkansas this past weekend. In that series, HSU lost the opener, 1-0, but bounced back to win the second game 805 and the finale, 2-1. Most-recently, however, the Reddies lost a road midweek game at Delta State, 14-10, this past Tuesday.
 
Offensively, the Reddies are hitting .273 as a team (276-for-1,011) with 230 runs scored, 69 doubles, three triples and 32 home runs. They are led in hitting by Tripp Campbell at .350 (36-for-103). Tanner Ross has been the biggest power threat for the Reddies as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .691 thanks to eight doubles, one triple and 11 home runs. Ross also leads the team in RBIs with 34 while Campbell is tied with Nate More for the team-lead in runs scored with 34.
 
On the mound, the Reddies have a 6.16 team ERA and have struck out 245 batters in 257.0 innings of work.
 
The Reddies used a weekend rotation of Ethan Roark, Dawson Goines and Rhett Richardson in their weekend series against Southern Arkansas. Those three figure to be in the mix for the rotation against Tech.
 
Roark is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA and has 67 strikeouts in 49.0 innings. Goines is 2-2 with a 6.70 ERA and has 34 strikeouts in 43.0 innings. Richardson is 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA and has 29 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.
 
The Reddies are led by Cody Hooten, who is in his 16th season as head coach at Henderson State. In his time at HSU, Hooten is 428-350-1.
