LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team will take to the road for their midweek game this week and will travel to Clinton, Mississippi to take on Mississippi College.
 
The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. from Frierson Field.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Choctaws have met nine times before their clash on Tuesday. Tech currently leads the series 5-4.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the game 20-15 overall and are coming off a series win at home against Ouachita Baptist. In that series, the Wonder Boys won the first game, 5-2, dropped the middle game, 9-2 and won the finale, 4-0.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .275 as a team (300-for-1,092) with 222 runs scored, 53 doubles, eight triples and 22 home runs. Kirby Jenkins currently leads the team in batting average at .358 (44-for-123). Jenkins has also been the biggest power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .691 slugging percentage thanks to 11 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. Jenkins also leads the team in RBIs with 42 and runs scored with 33.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.30 and have struck out 218 batters in 283.2 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Ouachita Baptist and figure to not see action against Mississippi College.
 
Derek Rockett has started the last four midweek games. He is currently 2-2 with an 8.14 ERA and has 20 strikeouts in 24.1 innings. Zach Moss and Vaughn O'Leary have also started midweek game this season.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 620-440.
 
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
Mississippi College enters the game against Tech at 20-14 overall. They have won three-straight games and are coming off a series sweep at home against Valdosta State this past weekend.
 
Offensively, the Choctaws are hitting .289 as a team (310-for-1,074) with 229 runs scored, 56 doubles, six triples and 33 home runs. They are led in hitting by Will Langston at .342 (40-for-117). Alex Johnson has been the biggest power threat for the Choctaws as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .595 thanks to two doubles and 10 home runs. Johnson also leads the team in RBIs with 35 while JT Thigpen leads the team in runs scored with 33.
 
On the mound, the Choctaws have a 5.27 team ERA and have struck out 280 batters in 270.0 innings of work.
 
The Choctaws used a weekend rotation of Caleb Peterson, Cooper Cooksey and Coby Gollott in their weekend series against Valdosta State. Those three figure to not see action against Tech on Tuesday.
 
Blake Gollott has started the last three midweek games for the Choctaws. Overall, B. Gollott is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.
 
The Choctaws are led by Jeremy Haworth, who is in his 11th season as head coach at Mississippi College and his 15th overall. In his time at MC, Haworth is 233-250. Overall, he is 335-345-1.
