RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team returned home on Thursday night and faced off with (rv) Southern Nazarene. Tech would lose the game, 77-70, as they were unable to overcome a late first-half run that put SNU up double-digits heading into halftime.
The run by the Crimson Storm started at the 2:28 mark of the first half and wound up being a 12-0 run to close out the half, which turned a one-point lead into a 13-point lead for SNU. The lead would reach a high point of 16 early in the second half as the Crimson Storm connected on a three-pointer on the opening possession.
The Wonder Boys would fight right back and got the deficit into single digits by the 16:33 mark. Shortly thereafter, however, the lead got back to double digits and remained that until consecutive three-pointers by the Wonder Boys trimmed an 11-point hole into a five-point deficit, 62-57, with 3:44 left.
Making the trifectas for the Wonder Boys were
Devin Foster and
Connor Davis. Those two ended up being the top-two scorers for Tech with Foster leading the way with a season-high 22 points. Davis was not far off that with 19. The two also combined to make seven of Tech's nine three-pointers in the game.
That five-point margin would be as close as the Wonder Boys would get as the Crimson Storm kept them at arm's length through the final buzzer.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for a second-straight tough game as they will host No. 10-ranked Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
