Wonder Boys fall in home finale to Henderson State

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team played its final home game of the 2025-26 regular season on Thursday night against Henderson State. Tech would drop the game by a score of 79-74.

Henderson State jumped out to the early advantage and were up by seven before the first media timeout. Two minutes later, however, the Wonder Boys had pulled even with the Reddies at 9-all with 14:43 left in the first half.

Not long after that, the Wonder Boys were in the lead thanks the second of consecutive three-pointers, this one being knocked by senior Devin Foster. By the 9:06 mark, the lead changed hands three times with last of those being secured by Henderson.

The Reddies would push their lead out double digits by the 3:27 mark and led by as many as 11 with 2:23 left. The Wonder Boys would close that gap down to four points before the Reddies got a last-second basket to go into the locker room up by six, 41-35.

Coming out of the break, the Wonder Boys ripped off a quick 5-0 run to get within a point, 41-40. All five of those points were scored by David Elliott IV as he had a pair of layups with the second one also being an and-one. The Reddies settled in and stayed in the lead, but by the 15:18 mark, it was once again a one-point game, 45-44, as Elliott IV made a pair of free throws.

That would be as close as the Wonder Boys would get as the Reddies managed to stay in the lead the rest of the way out. The lead would reach 11 points on a pair of occasions in the second half, but the Wonder Boys cut it down to five before the final buzzer.

The Wonder Boys had four players in double figures and were led in scoring by senior Connor Davis and his 22 points. Foster and Elliott IV were next with 14 points each. Aiden Underdown added 12 points.

Tech will now prepare to conclude their season on the road this Saturday at Southern Arkansas. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
