HUMBLE, Texas – The Arkansas Tech men's golf team finished their first tournament of the spring season on Tuesday and saved their best for last at the Houston Classic as they shot even-par (288) as a team, vaulting them firmly into a sixth-place finish.
FINAL RESULTS
Through the first two-rounds of the tournament played on Monday, the Wonder Boys were +20 as a team and tied for 10
th in the 16-team field. In the opening round, Tech shot +13 and then improved in round two later that afternoon with a +7.
Jacob Peetoom paced the Wonder Boys in the opening round with an even-par round of 72. He was one stroke better in round two and shot a one-under (71). Peetoom fell back to even-par overall with a one-over (73) on Tuesday, but he still placed ninth overall.
A pair of Wonder Boys went lower than Peetoom in the final round as
Roby Cooper shot an even-par (72). Carding the lowest score of any Wonder Boy in the tournament was newcomer
Cameron Twynholm. Joining the program at semester, the freshman from the UK shot a three-under (69). In his final round, Twnyholm had five birdies, including three-straight on holes 7-9.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for their next tournament, the Oldfield Classic, which is scheduled to take place February 23-24.
