Wonder Boys set pair of team records and one individual record at Skip Wagnon Invitational; finish fourth overall

EDMOND, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech men's golf team went under par each of the three rounds played at the Skip Wagnon Invitational over the past two days and set new program records for lowest round score and lowest 54-hole tournament score.

FINAL RESULTS

The single-round record came in the first round of the event as the Wonder Boys posted a score of 269 and were 11-under relative to par. The previous record score was 273, done twice during the 2019-20 season.

That blistering opening round by the Wonder Boys placed them in a tie for second with Oklahoma Christian as host-school Central Oklahoma remarkably went even lower with a team score of 800 and 19-under par.

At the end of play on Monday, the Wonder Boys were in third place but still were in the red at seven-under with a team stroke total of 273. In Tuesday's third and final round, the Wonder Boys shot three-under to finish with the aforementioned 54-hole score record, which settled at 819.

Relative to par, the Wonder Boys collectively shot 21-under.

In terms of individual results, the Wonder Boys were led by first-year golfer Sebastien De Vooght as he shot 201 and was nine-under for the tournament and finished tied for ninth. De Vooght's overall stroke total set a new 54-hole record, besting the previous record of 203 by Austin Smith in 2016.

Finishing one shot back of De Vooght was Cameron Twynholm. The second-year golfer had rounds of 65, 71 and 66 to shoot 202 and go eight-under. He finished tied for 11th. Fourth-year golfer Jacob Peetoom was the third Wonder Boy to finish under par as he did so at seven-under for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 15th.

The Wonder Boys will now prepare for their third tournament of the fall, the Missouri State Men's Fall Invitational. That event is scheduled to take place from Monday, October 19 – Tuesday, October 20 at the Twin Hills Golf & Country Club in Joplin.
