Young’s career-high 31 points fuels blowout victory over Ouachita Baptist

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – True freshman Logan Young put together the best scoring game of her young collegiate career on Saturday afternoon against Ouachita Baptist as she scored 31 points and served as a catalyst to Arkansas Tech's 99-71 blowout win.

The 31-point performance by Young were the most points scored in a game by a Golden Suns since 2023 when Pacious McDaniel, also a freshman at the time, scored 36 against Southern Arkansas. A lion's share of Young's points came inside the paint as 10 of her 12 made field goals game on layups.

Additionally, all but three of the layups came in the second half as Young scored 22 of her points over the final two quarters. Her most dominant quarter was the third as she was 6-of-10 overall from the floor, 1-of-2 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

Young's sensational third quarter helped the Golden Suns take a three-point halftime lead and turn it into a comfortable 18-point advantage into the fourth quarter. In that third quarter, the Golden Suns out-scored Ouachita, 29-14, and shot a blistering 62.5% from the field (10-of-16).

The separation created in the third quarter by Young and the Golden Suns continued on into the fourth quarter as Tech scored 25 points in the final period and fell one point shy of the century mark. It would have been the third time this season that the Golden Suns had scored 100 or more points.

In addition to Young, the Golden Suns got double-figure scoring from four others. Perina Leime was next in scoring with a season-high 17 points. AbbiGrace Cunningham followed with 14 while Shalyln Lyle had 13. Hayleigh Wyrick rounded out double-figure scoring with 11.

The Golden Suns will now prepare for their first Oklahoma road trip of the season as they will travel to Shawnee on Thursday for a game at Oklahoma Baptist and then on to Bethany for a Saturday afternoon clash with Southern Nazarene.
