TIPPING OFF
After a 17-day break from games for the Christmas holiday, the Arkansas Tech women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon and will take on Ouachita Baptist at home.
 
This will be the 98th meeting all-time between Tech and Ouachita Baptist. The series began in 1977 and the two have played regularly every year since as conference rivals. Overall, Tech leads the series 78-19.
 
Tip-off for is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Tucker Coliseum on the campus of Arkansas Tech.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the GAC. They are coming off a 67-57 win at home against Arkansas-Monticello on December 18.
 
Statistically, the Golden Suns average 83.2 ppg to rank first in the GAC and are allowing 69.0 ppg to rank 11th. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are shooting at an overall clip of .441 (262-of-594) to rank second in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .424 mark (219-of-517) to rank 11th.
 
From beyond the arch, the Golden Suns are shooting .279 (62-of-222) to rank 11th and are allowing their opponents to make three-pointers at a .386 clip (64-of-166) to rank 12th. At the charity stripe, the Golden Suns are shooting .738 (163-of-221) to rank seventh.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have three players scoring in double figures. Logan Young leads the way at 13.3 ppg followed by AbbiGrace Cunningham at 12.2 ppg. Dessie Lancaster rounds out double-figure scoring with 10.3 ppg.
 
Lancaster leads the team in rebound average at 7.3 rpg. In terms of assists, Shalyn Lyle leads the team at 2.8 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Young at 1.7 spg. Young also leads the team in blocks at 1.1 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 19th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 370-155 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Ouachita Baptist is 6-3 overall and are 3-2 in the GAC. They have lost their last two games are coming off a 58-50 loss in their most-recent game on the road at Southern Arkansas on December 20.
 
Statistically, the Tigers average 72.2 ppg and rank fourth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank ninth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 67.7 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are seventh in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .408 (215-of-527) and are allowing their opponents a .377 mark (218-of-579) to rank fourth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Tigers shoot at a clip of .341 (72-of-211) to rank fourth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .263 (52-of-198) to rank third. From the free throw line, the Tigers shoot .759 as a team (148-of-195) to rank sixth.
 
Individually, the Tigers have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Madeline Tipton and her 16.2 ppg. Heidi Robinson is next at 12.7 ppg while Abbey Harrison rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.9 ppg.
 
Tipton is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 5.4 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Robinson leads the team and is averaging 3.0 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Tigers are led in steals by Harrison at 1.0 steals per game and in blocks by Harrison at 0.7 blocks per game.
 
The Tigers are coached by Nick Long, who is in his first season at Ouachita Baptist. In his time at Ouachita, Long is 6-3 overall.
