Golden Suns tennis open fall slate at ITA Regionals this weekend

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team is set to open the fall portion of their 2025-26 schedule this weekend as they are set to take part in the ITA Central Regionals. The event is being hosted by Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
 
The Golden Suns will compete in singles and doubles action over the course of the next three days with hopes of advancing to the ITA National Tournament later this fall.
 
This year's ITA Central Region Tournament will feature two singles draws and two doubles draws.
 
Competing for the Golden Suns in Singles Flight A are Monica Balau, Elis Gergel and Lucia Perez. All three are set to play their Round of 64 matches on Friday morning. Balau will be taking on Missouri Western's Jervosima Mitic while Gergel will play Washburn's Daniela Tijaro and Perez will take on Henderson State's Angela Dorado.
 
In Singles Flight B, Tech will have Nabilah Dunn, Rebecca Arnold, Evgeniya Sizova, Natalya Montoya, Lea Krejov, Nayara Alvarez and Zayla Ware in action. Arnold, Krejov, Sizova and Ware will all be making their collegiate debuts.
 
Arnold is set to take on Henderson's Lily Winter, Krejov will play Ouachita Baptist's Marlee Bledsoe, Sizova will matchup with Newman's Anastassiya Kim and Ware will play Newman's Linda Nocito.
 
Dunn is set to take on Missouri Western's Ella Gates while Montoya will play Fort Hays State's Molly Gaddis and Alvarez will play Sioux Falls' Karly Doom.
 
Over in doubles action, the Golden Suns will have one team play in Draw A with Balau and Gergel teaming up against the Harding pairing of Mia Hosking and Kenna Kelley.
 
In Doubles B draw, Tech will have four teams competing.
 
One of those pairings will see Ware and Krejov team up against Emporia State's Erin Cahill and Giulia Russu. Dunn and Arnold are the second team and will play Henderson's Lainey Mungle and Lily Winter.
 
Alvarez and Sizova are set to play Central Oklahoma's Marina Becaro and Brylee Toney. The final doubles pairing for the Golden Suns will have Montoya and Perez await their first opponents as they receive a first-round bye. They will take on the winner of Northeastern State's team of Camila de Michele Garzon and Carla Alvarez Perez and Arkansas-Fort Smith's pairing of Sofia Tominaga and Chiara Palo.
