EDMOND, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech women's golf team was in position to qualify and advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship heading into the final round of the Central Region Tournament as they were in fourth place through 36 holes. In Wednesday's final round, the Golden Suns left no doubt about their chances of advancing as they rose a spot on the team leaderboard and finished the regional in third place.

Finishing in third, the Golden Suns have officially qualified for this year's DII National Championship Tournament, which is being held at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder Creek, Nevada from May 13-17. Stroke play will take place May 13-15 and medal match play will be May 16-17.
This will be the seventh time in program history that the Golden Suns will play at the National Championship Tournament, and it is the first time doing so since 2021.
In Wednesday's final round, the Golden Suns literally weathered wet course conditions as it steadily rained in Edmond all of Tuesday, prompting the suspension of the final round to today. No team shot under par and the lowest score was a seven-over turned in by regional champion, Central Missouri. Tech would have the third-lowest team score on Wednesday with an 11-over to propel them to their third-place finish.
Leading the charge for the Golden Suns was
Ellen Spigner. The First Team All-GAC golfer would shot even-par (70) in her final round and ended up shooting even-par for the tournament to finish third individually.
Kylie Rehberger closed out a great regional tournament with a two-over (72) on Wednesday and climbed five spots individually overall to finish in a tie for 24
th.
Jaylee Castro and
Averi Mickelson each finished the tournament tied for 35
th. In the final round, Castro shot a three-over (75) and Mickelson was nine-over (79).
Mekky Winyarat was the fourth counting score on Wednesday with a six-over (76). That helped her make the biggest jump in the individual standings as she ended up tying for 69
th.
