RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech football team played its final road game of the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 38-25 win against Oklahoma Baptist. The win was the seventh of the season for the Wonder Boys.
In the victory, the Wonder Boys controlled the game on the ground as they ran it 52 times for 233 yards. Defensively, they held Oklahoma Baptist to 50 yards rushing on 22 carries. Offensively, it was the second time this year that Tech has run the ball over 50 times and the third time that they have netted over 200 yards. Defensively, the 50 yards given up were a season-low.
The bell cow for the Wonder Boys in their rushing attack was freshman running back
Bryson Roland. A week after running for 207 yards on 19 carries en route to being named the GAC Offensive Player of the Week, Roland ran 31 times for 171 yards. He also added a season-high three rushing scores as well.
Roland's performance at Oklahoma Baptist has him on the doorstep of 1,000 yards on the ground and double-digit rushing touchdowns. The last time the Wonder Boys had a 1,000-yard running back was back in 2015 when Bryan Allen rushed for 1,150 yards in his freshman season. Allen was also the last running back with double-digit rushing TDs, doing so with 10 in 2017.
Controlling the ground game helped the Wonder Boys have just over a 10-minute advantage in time of possession as they possessed the ball for 35:03 while Oklahoma Baptist had it for 24:57.
The Wonder Boys were also opportunistic in creating takeaways on defense as they forced four turnovers, matching a season-high that they got in the season-opener at Southwestern Oklahoma. Three of the turnovers were interceptions with Camron Holmes,
Tyrique Jones and
Jonah Brown getting a pick each. The fourth takeaway was a fumble recovery by
Jordan Scott.
Vershaud Richardson was responsible for forcing that fumble.
Tech will now turn their attention toward the task of playing unbeaten and consensus top-five ranked Harding in their regular season finale next Saturday. That game will be played at Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium with a kick-off scheduled for 2 p.m. Prior to the game, the Wonder Boys will honor the seniors on this year's team.
