ADA, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech football team fell behind early and ultimately lost on the road at East Central on Saturday afternoon by a score of 37-21.
That early deficit saw ECU get out to a 20-0 lead in the first half before the Wonder Boys put their first points of the game on the board on a 20-yard pass from
Jack Dawson to
Austin Marshall with 49 seconds left in opening half.
Unfortunately, ECU was able to make the most of the time left on the first-half clock as they got the ball quickly to the Tech 15-yardline before kicking a 32-yard field goal as time expired to give the Tigers a 23-7 lead at halftime.
Both Tech and ECU scored touchdowns in the third quarter. ECU's was first and came with 6:39 on the clock while Tech's came with 12 seconds left in the period on a 23-yard pass from Dawson to DeCausmaker. The touchdown reception was the first of DeCausmaker's collegiate career.
The fourth quarter played out much like the third with both teams scoring touchdowns and ECU having the first score. Tech's final touchdown was a 35-yard pass from Dawson to
Jared Long at the 2:56 mark of the quarter.
The Wonder Boys will now look to bounce back with a second-straight road game. This one is a neutral site game in El Dorado as Tech will be taking (rv) Southern Arkansas in the Murphy USA Classic. Kick-off for the game on Saturday, October 18 is scheduled for 2 p.m.
