RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech senior libero
Jamie Myrick has been named as the latest Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday. Myrick shared the award with Harding's Delaney Garner.
It is the first GAC weekly award in the career of Myrick, the second for the Golden Suns this season and the first defensive award since Madison Grantham earned the award back in 2019.
A native of Bentonville, Ark., Myrick was a steady presence on the defensive end for the Golden Suns as they went 2-0 against conference competition. For the week, Myrick totaled 39 digs for an average of 4.88 digs per set.
She also was a game-changer in the serve game as she racked up an impressive nine service aces. Six of those aces came in Tech's thrilling five-set win at UAM, and four of those came in succession in the fifth set as Myrick's serve game essentially put the finishing touches on that victory.
