Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | By: Daniel Gallegos

Golden Suns season ends in GAC Tournament

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The 2025 season for the Arkansas Tech volleyball team ended on Thursday night in the opening round of the Great American Conference Tournament as No. 4-seeded Tech lost to No. 5-seed Oklahoma Baptist, 3-0.

With the loss, the Golden Suns finished their season under first-year head coach, Hannah Wuest, with a 15-12 overall record and an 11-5 mark in conference play. The above .500 overall record in 2025 was the first since 2021 while the 15 overall and 11 conference wins were also the most in a year since 2021 as well.

In their match against Oklahoma Baptist, the Golden Suns were plagued by a slugging offense on their end and a super-charged attack from the Bison. Oklahoma Baptist would out-kill the Golden Suns 49-24 in the match. The Bison also were able to record double-digit kills in each set while the Golden Suns were only able to reach that mark in the third set.

Recently-named First Team All-GAC honoree, Henley Hooks led the team in kills on Thursday with eight. She ended her junior season with 293 kills and is set to enter her senior season 224 kills shy of 1,000 for her career.

The Golden Suns also had a trio of seniors play in their final match. Emma Kiser and Kariela Torres were two-year members of the team after transferring in before last season while Millie Allgood played her final year of eligibility at Tech after three seasons at East Texas A&M.
