FIRST PITCH
The Arkansas Tech baseball team resumes their five-game homestand this weekend with a three-game Great American Conference series against Southern Nazarene.

The series is slated to begin with a single nine-inning game on Friday night starting at 6 p.m. Saturday will close the series with a doubleheader (9-7) starting at 1 p.m.

The Wonder Boys and Crimson Storm have met 28 times historically with all games coming as GAC foes. In terms of the all-time series record, Tech holds a 23-4 lead over SNU.

The two teams met three times last season with a three-game conference series at Southern Nazarene. The Wonder Boys won the series 2-1 with wins in the opener and finale.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enter this weekend's series at home against Southern Nazarene with an overall record of 4-8 and an 0-3 mark in conference play. Their last time out, the Wonder Boys started their five-game homestand by overcoming an early deficit to beat Southern Arkansas in a non-conference mid-week game this past Tuesday.

Entering play against Southern Nazarene, the Wonder Boys are hitting .247 as a team (94-for-381) with 66 runs scored, 14 doubles, a triple and 12 home runs.
Â
Logan Schwenke currently leads the team in batting average at .382 (13-for-34).
Schwenke also leads the team in RBIs with 15 and home runs with six.
Keaton Ranallo is second on the team in home runs at three while
Brendyn Bard,
Cole Dawson and
Markos Cabranes have account for the other homers thus far with one apiece.

In terms of other extra-base hits,
Shane Poe leads the team in doubles with five while
Sawyer Duddleston has the team's lone triple thus far.

On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 6.66 and have struck out 94 batters in 98.2 innings of work.

John Gray, Emilano Mata, and
Jack Rector made starts this past weekend at Oklahoma Baptist and figure to be in the mix for starts this weekend against Southern Nazarene.
Rector currently has the lowest ERA among starters at 3.86 and his 11.2 innings are tied for second with
Gray.
Mata has pitched the most innings of the starters with 12.1 to his credit. All three weekend starters have registered double-digit strikeouts thus far.

Aside from those that have made starts, 12 other pitchers have taken the mound for the Wonder Boys in relief roles.
Will Horton has the most relief appearances thus far with six.
Grant Shahan has logged the most innings in relief with 13.1 to his credit.
Shahan also currently leads the team in strikeouts with 19.

Leading the Wonder Boys once more is
Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history,
Dawson enters his 15th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 14 seasons,
Dawson has guided amassed a 414-298 record. He has also had seven seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.

Overall,
Dawson is in his 19th year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 532-389.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN NAZARENE
Southern Nazarene enters this weekend series on the road at Tech with a 3-8 overall record and an 0-3 record in conference play. The Crimson Storm have lost their last seven games and are most-recently coming off a high-scoring loss at home to Rogers State in mid-week non-conference action this past Tuesday.

Offensively, the Crimson Storm are hitting .265 as a team (88-for-332) with 62 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triples and nine home runs.
Â
Jacob Martinez leads the team in batting average early on at .378 (14-for-37).
Martinez has also provided the most power production thus far with a .568 slugging percentage thanks to two doubles, a triple and a home run.
Colby Entwistle leads the team in runs scored with nine while
Max Dias lead the team in home runs with two and
Dax Edmonds pacing the club with nine RBIs.

On the mound, the Crimson Storm have an 8.86 team ERA and have struck out 87 batters in 86.1 innings of work.

Last weekend, the Crimson Storm used a weekend rotation of
Will DesHotels,
Patrick Hine and
Jacob Martinez against Harding. Martinez has the lowest ERA among the weekend starters at 5.65 and leads the team in strikeouts with 24 in 14.1 innings of work.

In addition to those three starters, the Crimson Storm have used 11 other pitchers in relief roles.
Gunner Phillips and
Zack Robinson have made the most appearances with five each.
Phillips is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 15.0 innings of work.
Robinson has one of the two saves for team thus far and has a 2.45 ERA and six strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. Landon Kinder has the other save and has appeared in four games and posted a 1.69 ERA with nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

Grant Ledbetter, who is in his fifth season as head coach at his alma mater, Southern Nazarene. In his time at SNU,
Ledbetter is 45-129.
